I’ve been dying to buy Real Technique brushes on Sephora.ph for the longest time now, but it was a tough choice between these famed brushes and some less expensive brushes I’ve also been considering for weeks now! But life is short, so I went ahead and bought the brushes! These were my first brushes from Real Techniques, and by the looks of things, this definitely won’t be my last!
Shopping experience: This was also my first Sephora.ph purchase, and it was exceptional for the most part! I wasn’t crazy about the Php 330 fixed shipping fee, but found out later that you can get FREE SHIPPING for a minimum purchase of Php 1300 worth of products. They employ a courier I’ve never heard of before called ARAMEX, so I was somewhat concerned since most couriers have a hard time finding my home address, and it takes forever to guide them.
Surprisingly, they found my home address without extra instructions from my end, but they happened to drop by when no one was home. I was automatically sent an email by Sephora.ph that the courier tried to deliver my order but failed because there was no one at home to receive my package. Instructions to coordinate directly with the courier via a phone call were also included in the email. Due to my busy schedule, I totally forgot to give them a call. It was a good thing that ARAMEX themselves reached out via SMS and I was able to change my delivery address to my office address instead, where I was able to receive my package within three hours of being contacted by them.
The package arrived in great condition, with products properly packed individually and bubble-wrapped for protection.
Packaging: The packaging that the brushes came in with were real sturdy themselves! To be honest, I spent some time trying to pry it open because I couldn’t figure out how to open the plastic packaging! But when I finally did, I fell absolutely in love with the brushes!
The first brush I used was the Concealer Brush (Php 732). The concealer brush was great for reaching tight areas like the side of the nose, the areas near the lower lash line, as well as the areas around the lips. Its use is also not limited to concealer! You can use it with your cream foundation to ensure an even application all over. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway, because I tried!), this shouldn’t be your first choice of brush for applying foundation all over your face.
Next stop was the Duo-Fiber collection (Php 1508). At first I didn’t want to get this because I read reviews that it picked up powder products poorly and sparingly, and it’s less dense than RT’s other brush collection. However, after using the Duo-Fiber Contour Brush and not going overboard with the contour, I became a convert! Not all brushes need to be dense. Sometimes, it really depends on the user!
The same can be said about the Duo-Fiber Face Brush, which did well in applying just the right amount of powder on my face. Using these brushes instead of other more dense brushes help prevent your makeup from caking.
Last but definitely not the least is my favorite among the brushes from this haul — the Real Techniques Sculpting Brush (Php 779). Its wide angled head makes it perfect for sculpting and contouring to bring out your best features. I just love how dense and soft the fibers are, and the feel of the fibers on my face. On the website, it says you can use it with cream brushes, but upon assessing the fiber quality, I would recommend sticking to powder bronzers or contouring powders for better contouring.
Sephora.ph also threw in a sample of Skin Inc’s 60 ml sachet of the Pure Revival Peel. I have yet to try this out and see if I should buy the full size. Free samples = ♥
I have a few more Real Techniques brushes I’m eyeing to buy soon, waiting for me patiently in my Sephora cart. Super excited for my next purchase (and the new makeup looks I’ll be creating with these new babies!)-HANA
