Disclaimer: I work for Pili Beauty / Elemie Naturals.
Let me start of by saying that I’ve completely fallen in love with this brand. You might find this hard to believe, given the disclaimer I’ve added at the start of this blog post, but it’s true. I’ve been using their products for two months now, and I’m looking forward to collecting all the shades of their Lip and Cheek Tint. But before any talk of that, let me share with you a short introduction to the brand.
Pili takes pride in creating world-class all-natural products made from the resin and oil extracted from the Pili trees of Bikol. What was once only known as food to us is now skin food, too! Their products are infused with two powerful ingredients: the pili oil and the elemi oil. While pili oil keeps the skin moisturized, it is the elemi oil that lends its anti-ageing and youth-defying properties that we should be excited about. So many brands like Chanel, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs purchase use elemi oil to boost the anti-ageing properties of their high-end products. Little did we know that we were growing their source of elemi oil in our own backyard!
Pili has a range of products, ranging from skincare (lotion, body oil), cosmetics (lipstick, lip balm, lip and cheek tint), to wellness products (natural essential oils). I will be writing about each in detail, but for today, I want to focus on how much I love the Pili Lip and Cheek Tint, and why I am swearing by it, even though I’ve sworn off lip gloss before.
The Pili Lip and Cheek Tint comes in six different shades. The shade I got is called Classic, and it’s an darker shade of earthy nude which is perfect for any occasion. It’s a bit pricey at Php 896 on the Pili Beauty website, but it’s also available on BeautyMNL (and they usually have a lot of sales where you can get most of the products at a discounted rate.) The Lip tint doubles as a cheek tint, so instead of having a lip gloss and a blush, you have two products in one!
One of the things that I don’t particularly love about this product is the packaging. The twist cap has an applicator wand attached to it, which you use to apply the product. What I don’t like about the packaging is that the tube and the cap are both wrapped with some kind of paper with the design, logo, as well as information about the product printed on it. It easily gets dirty, unlike plastic tubes, wherein you can easily wipe off dirt. Portions of the paper packaging can also be torn from the surface, making it look unsightly. :(
Its rich and creamy consistency allows one swipe of the product enough to cover your pout thickly! This definitely helps save time especially when you don’t have time to be applying layer over layer of product just to get enough color on your lips. The finish is also not glossy, but it has enough moisture packed in to lend a nice sheen to your lips. Don’t worry, it won’t make you look like you just ate lechon and forgot to wipe the grease from your lips!
The product lasts for four hours to six hours, so lasting power is definitely good! As for its dual purpose as a cheek tint, just apply enough for that naturally flushed look.
I’ve been enjoying using this product a bit too much, which is why I wasn’t able to give the Pili Tinted Lip Balm and Pili Lipstick a chance :( I know I swore off lip gloss, but I haven’t seen any local product with a coverage like the Pili Lip and Cheek Tint’s.
Will I repurchase: The price is a little steep, but given the trade off that I get for it, then yes! Maybe the next shade I’ll get is Latte. Beauty Vlogger Say Tioco Artillero shares that the Pili Lip and Cheek Tint in Latte is the product every girl needs to achieve MLBB (My Lips, But Better) goals!
More than having the perfect shade of lippie in your makeup arsenal (aka your kikay kit), make sure you have a product that nourishes and takes good care of your puckers. But then again, why have two when you can have a product that’s two-in-one? ;) Don’t forget to check out the rest of the Pili products on the Pili website!-HANA
