When I say that adulting is hard and life can get stressful at times, I’m sure I don’t only speak for myself. I don’t know how other people manage, but for me, I take regular breaks by rewarding myself with something nice after a long day or a tiring week at work. Weekends are usually almost my favorite time of the week to give myself a pat in the back for a job well done, and what better way to do this than to indulge in the company of family or friends and with a satisfying serving of good food! For me, breakfast food is always almost soothing, which is why I’m always keeping my eyes peeled for the freshest spots in the metro where I can score delicious breakfast meals. Last weekend, I was invited to join other friends from the media at the newly opened B&P Restaurant at Cyberscape Alpha in Ortigas, and see what they have to offer. Here are some of the things I learned:
Located just within a stone’s throw away from Robinson’s Galleria, B&P Restaurant is conveniently accessible to people working in the Ortigas CBD, and proves easy enough to find for those whose not familiar with the area. B&P has found success in its first three branches located at Il Terazo, Shaw Boulevard, and McKinley Hill in Taguig, which prompted them to expand with a fourth branch in Cyberscape Alpha, and a fifth branch, the location of which is still kept top-secret at the moment. Upon entering the premises, it is clear to see that the team behind B&P has put a lot of thought and care into the styling and the little details that makes the restaurant not just another establishment, but a home that offers respite through delicious meals and a relaxing ambience.
Its bright and cheerful atmosphere is conducive to an enjoyable breakfast experience, and lends you energy with its warmth and cozy demeanor. The employees who work near here are lucky because they can enjoy breakfast any time of the day in such an elegant place like this!
The wide selection of menu items is enough to make me want to come back after my first visit. B&P has a lot of dishes to offer that is not limited to breakfast meals, but also encompasses sinful snacks and lunch-style dishes. Many of these dishes are not your run-of-the-mill classics. In fact, they really tried to put their own spin to these tried-and-tested favorites, which helps to differentiate them from other restaurants. However, I have chosen a few dishes that were true winners for me, ones that I am sure to come back for in the coming weeks.
The Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Sandwich is exactly what you need to cheer you up after a long day. On the other hand, the Red Molo soup is a lighter soup choice with pork wontons in flavorful broth. Both are great choices for starters, but I am slightly leaning a bit more towards the Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese sandwich because the grilled cheese sandwich is on point.
Of course, what’s breakfast without eggs? B&P’s local version of the Eggs Benedict, called the Mang Benedict’s, hits the spot with their apt choice of malunggay pandesal and chicken longganisa, topped with creamy hollandaise sauce. The Grilled Oyster Mushroom burger, a new addition to the menu, is something to look forward to especially for those looking for meatless, guiltless pleasures this Holy Week.
The Burrito Omelet Rice is another favorite, one you can eat on its own, or best eaten with a serving of Beer-Battered Buttermilk chicken or their Baby Back Ribs. Finally, if you’re looking to feel satisfied and fully recharged after your recovery meal, choose either the Don Malutong or the Primera Tapa for your main dish. I personally enjoyed the Primera Tapa better than the Don Malutong, because of the juicy prime angus beef tapa that was easy to sink my teeth into, compared to the crispy pork belly strips of the Don Malutong that I had slight difficulty chewing on.
We were also lucky to watch George Daag, a guest barista from Di Bella Coffee hailing all the way from Australia, as he demonstrates alternative methods of brewing high-quality coffee. Siphoning and Airpress brewing are just two ways to create a great-tasting cup of coffee sans the need for expensive coffee machines.
B&P Cyberscape Alpha is also open for reservations for functions and gatherings. Their second floor space has enough room to accommodate thirty to forty people, and is a suitable venue for events, especially when you can’t go far from Ortigas!
