This New Eyeliner Trick Will Make Your Eyes Look Brighter

Looking for a cool new trick to further your makeup game? Here’s a subtle new makeup hack that doesn’t require advanced makeup application skills, and is perfect for all makeup lovers of all levels. At the Marissa Webb Fall 2016 New York Fashion Week show, the models rocked two-tone eyeliners — an idea so simple, you’d probably think to yourself “Why haven’t I thought of this before?” after seeing the rest of the photos. The best part is, this look is completely wearable on a daily basis, for a day or night look. This is in stark contrast to many of the looks we see on the runway which are mostly lovely to look at, but not worth the indignation of actually being seen wearing them for any occasion.

The new makeup trick is the brainchild of Maybelline makeup artist Gato Zamora. Using a brush and Maybelline New York Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner in Blackest Black, he started drawing on a sharped winged-tip on the eyes of the models. He then proceeded to apply a metallic silver eyeshadow (Gato used  Color Tattoo Liquid Chrome in Silver Spark, but it won’ be available in the market until June of this year) on top of the jet-black liner on the model’s lids. He smudged the eyeshadow from the center of the lid, and blended some more on the inner corners of the eyes, all the way down to the center of the lower lash line and lid. The resulting effect successfully calls more attention to the eyes by making the eyes look brighter, while the sharply lined peepers made the eyes appear stronger and more defined.

This extra step shouldn’t take you more than two minutes to accomplish, and you can choose to use your fingers or an eyeshadow brush to achieve the effect.
