Happy Skin Faves: Don’t Get Mad, Get Even Foundation and Eye Am Here to Stay Eyeliner

Happy Skin’s Don’t Get Mad, Get Even Foundation (Php 999)

Since my friend Nines recommended I look into this local skincare brand named “Happy Skin” last year, I have never proclaimed another foundation brand as my HG foundation. I have been using it for months, and I’m finally writing this review to recommend it to everyone out there who isn’t yet sold on Happy Skin. Going through Happy Skin’s online shop makes me want to buy everything as a Christmas gift to myself, HAHA!

To make this review concise, here are some of the things I loved about Happy Skin’s premium foundation, Don’t Get Mad, Get Even:

  • The packaging. The 30 ml foundation is packaged in a sturdy blue-green colored plastic bottle with a twist cap. The twist cap stays in place, and I’ve never had an incident of it getting uncapped inside my bag accidentally. To get the liquid foundation out of the bottle, apply minimal pressure on the bottle and press it out. Aside from the hygienic packaging, the pastel colors and the design are just so playfully cute!
  • The liquid foundation’s consistency is thin enough to let my skin breathe, and thick enough to allow for medium coverage. It’s also easy to blend, unlike other foundation.
  • Coverage. The product provides medium coverage, so if you’re intermittently acne-ridden like me, this would suit you just fine as long as you use a concealer to hide acne marks and dark spots. If you have great skin, then the concealing powers of this product won’t make your skin look dull. In fact, it will make your skin look brighter.
  • The staying power of this product ranges from 2-4 hours. After that, you have to go retouch.
  • For all the help I’m getting from this HG concealer, the price of Php 999 is just right. In fact, my first bottle lasted for about six months (until I had to go throw it out, because liquid and cream-based cosmetics expire after six months)

What I didn’t like about the product (if I have to whine about this at all after my long list of pros) is its poor oil control. The only thing around that dilemma is to retouch, retouch, retouch.

Using Happy Skin’s Don’t Get Mad, Get Even Foundation (back when I had brown hair, haha!)

Looking at the photo of me above using Happy Skin’s Don’t Get Mad, Get Even liquid foundation, it did a great job of evening out my skin tone. However, I needed help from my HG concealer to hide my pimples and acne marks because its medium coverage isn’t enough to hide them.

Happy Skin’s Eye Am Here To Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (Php 499)

The Eye Am Here To Stay Eyeliner from Happy Skin was another great purchase. The line comes in two types: the liquid eyeliner and the gel eyeliner. I’m a big fan of the liquid eyeliner simply because of how easy it is to create a beautiful winged eyeliner with it than the gel type. The liquid eyeliner was priced Php 499 during the time of my purchase (which was last September 2014), but upon checking the online store, I found that the price has increased to Php 599.

Happy Skin’s Eye Am Here To Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner (Php 499)

Here’s what I liked about the Eye Am Here to Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner:

  • Pen-type. This makes it so much easier to apply and create the infamous winged eyeliner with.
  • Doesn’t flake. Ever experienced getting panda eyes because your eyeliner flaked on you? It happens, and it frequently happens to me when I choose to wear the wrong eyeliner. Luckily, this one doesn’t crease or flake.
  • Good lasting power.

And what I don’t like is that it doesn’t really last for 24 hours and probably won’t be able to win against the Tattoo Eyeliners. I rub my eyes and find some on fingers or the back of my hand, and I had high hopes that it won’t be easily rubbed off. Despite this, I’m loving how easy it is to apply, and how fast it dries, too, making little room for eyeliner mess.

review Happy Skin's Eye Am Here To Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

My only photo at the moment wearing Happy Skin’s Eye Am Here To stay liquid eyeliner during our K-pop themed party. Love how precise the application was thanks to the pen-type packaging.

I’m currently looking into trying out their highly pigmented lippies, and their other products as well. The tongue-in-cheek names are so characteristic of their products, and it’s another factor that came into play when I was deciding on getting the products above. Brands that have great quality products are cool, but witty brands are the ones that make their products to stand at the forefront of the industry. They’re not only products that people would purchase because they’re good, but because they’re memorable. The quality of Happy Skin makes me proud to be Pinoy, and I hope you’ll find a reason to love this local brand, too.-HANA
