They say great things come in small packages. For many things, this is especially true. However, when it comes to food, bigger always seems to be the better choice. Burger joints these days have started growing in number (especially in the Greater Manila area), and everyone wants to win over the competition with not only their distinct taste, but an overwhelming serving to satisfy a hungry tummy. But what if you’re looking to explore new flavors with a plethora of choices instead of going after just one item on the menu? Slammin’ Burgers have come up with the perfect solution: serve two or three smaller-sized burgers per order, allowing for more chances to share bites with family and friends!

The Slammin’ Mini Burgers Menu

Slammin’ Mini Burgers is not entirely new to the scene. Originally known as Slammer Burgers, the brand was revamped and taken into a new direction. It wasn’t only the look of the establishment that changed; the menu items were upgraded, with the management’s goal to make Slammin’ Burgers “the number one mini burger concept in Asia.”

I was given the opportunity one weekend to sample what Slammin’ Burgers had to offer. Does it live up to the hype? Read on to find out.

Slammin’ Mini Burgers is conveniently located in prime areas, such as in the New Promenade Wing at Greenhills, Trinoma Mall’s Food court, and Market! Market!’s Cinemas. Located at one of the exits of the Promenade Mall, Slammin’s GH Promenade branch had limited seating capacity, even somewhat cramped, but does not pose as a problem since most customers finish their orders quickly and stays only for a short time. The burger joint is a preferable choice for getting a quick and affordable snack, but not suited for big groups who’d like to stay and hangout for an hour or two.

Medium Fries + Sour Cream Dip + Creamy Barbecue Dip

We got ourselves Slammin’ Burgers two sampler boxes (The Farm and Slammin Trio), and upgraded both to make it a meal. For only an additional Php 70, the sampler boxes got upgraded into a meal and now included a serving of medium fries, your choice of dip, and a drink. For the dips, it was a tough choice, especially with seven tempting dips to choose from (Sour Cream, Jalapeno, Creamy Barbecue, Roasted Garlic, Cheesy, Honey Mustard, and Hot Bell Pepper). We went ahead and chose what felt would satisfy our craving at the moment: sour Cream and Creamy Barbecue Dip. The fries, as seen in the photo, proved to be a bit oilier than necessary. The dip fell a little flat in the flavor it provided and did very little for the fries, unfortunately. I was unable to finish my fries because I found it too oily for my liking. However, I liked that they were thick-cut and were flavorful on its own.

Slammin’ Trio (From top, L-R: All American Slider, Slammin’ Cheese, and Bacon N’ Mushroom) Php 225

The sampler boxes each had three mini burgers, which allowed you to sample each before making a Double or Triple purchase. I personally like the idea, but it can still be improved if it allowed customers to customize their own sampler box and choose their three mini burger variants rather than choosing from a pre-set sampler box. Our first sampler box, the Slammin’ Trio, included their bestselling American Slider, the popular Bacon Mushroom Melt, and the Slammin’ Cheese. Slammin’ Burgers take pride in using 100% all-beef chuck for their burgers, and believe that beef chuck provides an exquisite dining experience like no other portion of the beef can. All the mini burgers were finished with a layer of melted cheese on top. Among the three, my favorite would have to be the Bacon Mushroom Melt, the taste of which was reminiscent of Wendy’s Baconator. On the other hand, the American Slider highly appealed to my tastebuds because of the caramelized onion layer stuffed underneath the beef.

The Farm (From Top, L-R: Beer-Battered Go Fish! with Sour Cream, Slammin’ Cheese beef miniburger, and Crispy Chicks with Barbecue Sauce) Php 215

If you’d like to sample more of their non-beef burger variants, going for their second sampler box would suit you better. “The Farm” includes a serving each of a Slammin’ Cheese beef mini burger, a Beer-Battered Go Fish! with Sour Cream, and Crispy Chicks with Barbecue Sauce, all for Php 215. The Crispy Chicks was my favorite among the three because of my bias towards anything and everything with barbecue sauce. I found the Beer-Battered Go Fish! soaked in oil, and decided it was best not to consume it anymore. Apart from that, the mini-burger buns are just as oily as the meat, and found that the reason for this was that the buns were heated on the same stove where they fry and prepare the meat. This could easily be improved by allocating stove space to be used exclusively for heating the buns. This would help make the bread soak less from the oil content of the meat.

Drinks: Blue Lemonade and Slammin’ Iced Tea (Php 35 each)

Truth be told, I found that Slammin’ Burgers had a promising concept, but has yet to improve their execution and delivery. It’s easily a concept that many Pinoys would find appealing because it allows the customer an opportunity to sample more than one burger variant without burning a hole in one’s pocket. Apart from the fun and casual experience it offers, their menu promises new flavors you will not see in other establishments. Slammin’ Burgers tries to do away with the familiar and went to explore more adventurous flavors with their Black Box Creations, something I will definitely try on my next visit. Make sure to try their Loaded Fries and Slammin’ Wings to accompany your choice of mini burgers when you visit for an extra slammin’ good time.-HANA
