Have you seen the new Wham Burgers?

On its eleventh year, the popular burger chain decided to introduce sausages and beers to the menu, with a classier new red, black, and white branding to match. Wham Burgers and Sausages still hits the spot with the usual burger favorites, but with the addition of savory sausages and imported beers to the choices, it’s bound to get gastronomes amped up for the new Wham.

The Whammer (Php 259)

Apart from the rich, smoky flavor we all love about the Wham burger patties, one of the things to look forward to is the bun upgrade– an artisan brioche bun with 30% butter, contributing to its cake-like taste. Now even though a great part of the burger-loving population don’t really pay much attention to the quality of the buns, burger aficionados understand that the bun makes up a big portion of the burger experience.

Double Whammy with Cheese (Php 249; Php 359 with fries and drinks)

Aside from the buns, burgers and sausage creations alike are served on a wooden chopping board, lending a sophisticated and classy touch to the plating. The same bestsellers partnered with flavorful, thick-cut fries and a tall glass of iced tea makes Wham Burgers a preferable comfort food joint. But the new sausage sandwiches are equally deserving of your attention (especially if you’ve tried all the gourmet burger variants of Wham, then this is something you should be keen on trying).

Kielbasa (Php 168; Php 279 for Combo)

The sausage sandwiches are budget-friendly, with sausage sandwich prices starting at Php 135. What makes the Wiener, a basic sausage recipe, different is that its artisanal, and made with original, house-blend ingredients. An equally interesting sandwich is the Beer Sausage sandwich, wherein sausages are simmered in beer and onions first before they are grilled. The difference lies in the umami flavor that hits your taste buds with every bite. Kielbasa, another gourmet sausage variety, is a Polish smoked sausage of coarsely chopped beef and pork, and resembles the traditional longganisa. Its rich, meaty flavor will get you pumped up for more.

Spaghetti Fries (Php 140)

There is just no way I’m ending this post without putting on the spotlight my favorite Wham sides of all time, the Spaghetti Fries. Best innovation of mankind since pizza (no, I’m not exaggerating!) Pepper Poppers, on the other hand, is a great way to spice up your meal with bite-sized jalapeno and cheese-containing poppers.

Bavaria Beer (Php 135/bottle)

Burgers are just my kind of comfort food, and what better way to fully relax than with a glass of ice-cold beer on hand. Wham offers a range of top-quality beer selections, from the local San Mig Lights and Pale Pilsen, to imported Holland-brand Bavaria. Bavaria is made from pure barley malt and wheat, and would most likely appeal to sophisticated beer drinkers.

The new look and new additions to the menu strengthens Wham’s fun appeal to families and friends on the lookout for the next inexpensive and uncompromised gourmet burger finds. More than anything, the new Wham Burgers and Sausages come off to me as a place to just kick-back and relax, and shamelessly enjoy a memorable gastronomic experience that won’t burn a hole in my wallet.-HANA
