Long overdue post – three weeks ago, I registered to join the Hero of D Day Huddle at Commune Café in Makati. I found out about the org when I happened to pass by their booth at Social Media Day, and it didn’t take much to convince me to sign up. The idea was simple – feature random acts of kindness and acts of everyday heroism, and become a source of inspiration to many that the world is still full of good. The best part is that the stories are so powerful, that people are becoming more inspired to be that good they want to see.
At the Huddle, I met a lot of new people who were enamored by the vision of HODD. We all wanted to use social media to bring to light social good. The HODD Executive Team talked about their sub-unit’s respective goals and called for us to join them and be part of the mission. We also took part in a fun activity wherein we were asked to make an artwork answering the question “What is a hero?”
Our group, Team Heroes Anonymous, went through pages of various magazines, with one answer in mind: a hero can be anyone (hence, the team name). A hero would choose to be the change s/he wants to see, even if it means taking a more difficult and unpaved road. A hero is not afraid to sacrifice for the good of others. That hero can be you.
Join us on the 25th of August for National Heroes Day, and be part of the roster of heroes of Hero of D Day. Meet fellow heroes, learn from our workshops, and join the noble cause of HODD. For only Php 100, be part of this exciting activity, and learn about how you can be a hero in your own right.
