I don’t think any foodie has not yet heard of Project Pie. It is THAT pizza place that lets you choose what sauce and toppings go into your very own 8-inch pizza. As a pizza lover, I can’t even come up with any alibi as to why I’ve never tried Project Pie before! Maybe because I’ve been hearing feedback that it’s too expensive for a personal-sized pizza, and that they’re better off eating pizza someplace else where they can get more value for money. Do I think this is true? We’ll get to my verdict in just a bit. For now, enjoy the walkthrough of Project Pie Shaw Boulevard Branch in Mandaluyong:
Project Pie’s Photobooth Station needs a few pointers from Jamba Juice’s or Tune Hotel’s. You can’t save or send the photos to yourself without signing in to your account and uploading it, then going through all the trouble of signing out. It just deters people from using it. :| Also, Project Pie does not have wi-fi connection, so that totally limits the list of things you can do while you wait, or if you’re eating alone. They have this huge-ass wall though, full of nice quotes from famous people (and some random quotes that have surprisingly made it to the wall) that will keep you busy while you wait. That’s probably one of my favorite things about Project Pie, and in the future, I’d love to see more establishments incorporate something like that into their interiors.
After fifteen minutes, the attendant at the counter called out our names, signalling that our pizzas are ready to be picked up. Hello 8-inch thin crust, topping filled pizza goodness~
See my unapologetic attack on the pizza. I finished it and felt like I still had room for another slice! In all honesty, it didn’t taste any different from any other “good” pizza, some even priced cheaper than Project Pie’s. I believe that what you’re really buying from Project Pie is not the pizza, but the opportunity to make you own, fill it up with whatever toppings catches your fancy, and even make a mountain on toppings without feeling guilty about it. Php 285 is actually a decent price to pay for this opportunity, and the next best thing would be to make your own from scratch. I don’t think I’ll ever feel like going through the hassle of doing that just so that I could skimp on cost, so yeah, Project Pie is value for money for lazy pizza lovers such as myself. :)
Price: Php 285/pizza
The only issues I noted were: because Project Pie only offer their pizza in thin-crust, crust lovers might not get to enjoy the experience as much.
I will definitely come back for their Dessert Pizzas! There’s so many combinations to try and I’ll probably have a hard time deciding again on my next visit. Til my next Make-Your-Own Pizza session at Project Pie!-HANA
