Wham Burgers: A Bite Of 100% Filipino Gourmet Burgers

Who hasn’t heard of Wham Burgers? Since becoming an instant hit back in 2000 with their huge and succulent beef patties cooked with a smoky flavor that you can only achieve when char-grilled, Wham has become the go-to for great burgers. And up to now, many are still surprised to know that the monster-burger brand is 100% Filipino-made.

Wham Burger at the North Wing of SM Mall of Asia: The colorful interiors that set an inviting and playful vibe in all of their stores proved popular with the dining public.

It was the partnership of good friends Toni Yap and Dondi Lazaro that paved the way for Wham Burgers to become a reality. What made the burger creations of Wham Burgers distinct from all others was the handling and preparation that made all the difference. Their patties are never frozen and free from extenders or MSG, unlike most commercial burgers. It’s cooked with old-fashioned charcoal which lends that smoky flavor we all love to bite into. Gourmet burgers that won’t burn a hole in your wallet is always something we love to have.

Burgers and Sides

The Whammer (Php 230)

Is it even possible to feel full just by looking at a burger? Take Wham Burger’s Whammer as the perfect example. Boasting of a 1/3 pound pure beef, charcoal-grilled patty and topped with BLT, deep fried onion strings and cheese, the Whammer is everything you could ask for. It was so hefty that I consider it a feat downing even half of this monster burger.

Sliders Trio (Php 250)

Perfect for sharing (unless you’re extremely hungry), the Sliders Trio consists of three different burgers for Php 250. It has three burgers consisting the heavyweight set: the Wham Burger, Wham Burger with Cheese, and the Bacon Burger. It’s also something I’ll go for if I want a taste of three burgers at the price of one. While not as big as their regular burgers, these burgers won’t fail to satisfy with their juicy patties and flavorful mix.

The Kapow! (Php 200)

When in search for a spicy burger, grab a Kapow! The Kapow! Burger is by far, my favorite among the burgers of Wham. Still humungous, and juicy, only spicier with jalapeño slices topped with American cheese and freshly made salsa in it, and a special sauce that will set your tongue on fire. As a tip, you can have the sauce served separately so that you get to decide how much of the spicy sauce you want on your burger. And another tip: Have a cold glass of Red Tea near you.

Sides: Spaghetti Fries (Php 70)

The sides won’t leave you bitin, either. Potato wedges and french fries still remain to be the most popular sides to go with the burgers, but if you’re keen on trying out something new, check out the Pepper Poppers and Spaghetti Fries. The Pepper Poppers si a bite-sized treat with jalapeño pepper in melted cheese, something that I liken to the Dynamite. The Spaghetti Fries, on the other hand, provides a delicious fusion of two fast food favorites: spaghetti and fries. It’s like spaghetti, only with fries in place of pasta. I have no words for how amazing this side dish is. It just makes you think, “Why have I never thought of this before?”

Verdict: 5/5

Affordably priced heavyweight gourmet burgers with a variety of ingenious sides to go with it? What else can you ask for?-HANA

Wham Burgers is located at five branches: Katipunan, Shangri-La Edsa Plaza, Robinson’s Midtown Mall, SM North Edsa (The Block), Molito (Alabang) and Mall of Asia.
