Japan-Cebu Karaoke Contest

First Ever Japan-Cebu Karaoke Contest

The first ever Japan-Cebu Karaoke Contest is set to happen at the University of the Philippines in Lahug, Cebu City on February 8, 2014. The event will be held during the OtakuFest VII Event, which aims to foster camaraderie through a shared passion for Japanese music.

Other than that, the contest hopes to foster awareness about the Japanese Government Scholarships which will bring the best students from Cebu one step closer to studying in Japan. The Japanese Government Scholarships is a yearly program conducted by the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, and everyone is encouraged to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The contest is open to solo and group contestants. Only Nihongo songs are allowed for the competition. Contestants are required to provide the title of the song and a copy of a karaoke version of the song. A registration fee of Php 100 for Solo contestants and Pho 300 for group entries should be paid on or before January 17, 2014 (Friday).

This event is organized by the Philippine Association of the Japanese Ministry of Education Scholars (PHILAJAMES) led by PHILAJAMES President Benigno D. Tutor, as well as the Association of Nihongo Teachers in the Visayas (ANT-V) led by ANT-V President Romeo L. Abendan. The event is made possible through their sponsors, Synchronized Youth of the Nation Cultivating Humanism (SYNCHO) and UP Nichibunken (Society for Classical and Modern Japanese Cultural Studies).
