The Batangueños, led by Batangas City Mayor Eduardo “Eddie” Dimacuha, warmly welcomed the beautiful ladies with coconut water served in coconuts, and a handmade fan bearing the name of the city, embroidered on its surface. The ladies posed with their welcome drinks and gifts.

According to RD Dimacuha, the son of Mayor Dimacuha, it has been believed from past experience that the winner of the Miss Earth pageant always comes from the batch that visited Batangas City. The girls cheered in excitement of the thought that the crown will be won by one of them.

During the tour, we got the chance to talk with Miss Earth Air and also Miss Philippines Earth 2012, Stephany Stefanowitz, who was touring with the girls. We asked her, “Who is, in your opinion, the strongest contender in this year’s Miss Earth competition?” She answers:

“If I had to choose one, I would have to say Miss Venezuela. She has already won a lot of awards during the competition. Miss Brazil (who is with another batch) is also another favorite of mine, because I found out that she was room mate with the Miss Brazil last year, who I have become close to during last year’s competition. My third pick would have to be Miss Korea. Miss Korea is half-Brazilian.”

Ms. Stefanowitz also comments, “Madaming nagkakasakit na girls, especially the Europeans. Hindi sila sanay kasi sa food.

The Miss Earth 2013 pageant is set to happen on December 7, 2013 at the Versailles Palace in Alabang, Muntinlupa.-HANA
