Blogapalooza 2013: The Aftermath

blogapalooza 2013

Trending: #Blogapalooza

Last November 16, 2013, close to 500 bloggers and some friends from the media attended Blogapalooza, the biggest Business-to-Blogger event in the country. Hosted by When in Manila Founder and Radio DJ Vince Golangco, the event brought together more than thirty businesses to showcase their products and services to the digital influencers.

I believe that I was not the only one overwhelmed by the exhibit-type setup, as well as the amount of goodies these businesses were giving away! I came home lugging around three ecobags filled, if not overflowing, with products and giveaways.

Here were some of the booths we visited:

Vance and me at the Chooks to go Kwelavan

Funny thing was, I entered the SM Hall 1 wearing high heels that day. 5 inch stilts. But at the Chooks to Go Kwelavan where they had a kinect game for us, I abandoned the pair and wore my flipflops instead. Game on! Here’s me and Vance not afraid to look silly at the kwelavan. While I didn’t win because Vance here was so tenacious, I still went home with a capture of me being silly and a Chooks-to-go apron. Vance won with a 500-point lead! Congratulations, Vance!

But the thing that we really enjoyed most about Blogapalooza is getting to interact with all these brands. They made quite sure that we’d be kept busy with all the activities they planned for us. We had enough time to go around the booths before we settled in our seats and listened to informative discussions for the whole afternoon.

Here were some of the esteemed speakers and presenters during the event:

And then suddenly…

Flashmob! ProjectAwesome.ph surprised the attendees with a performance

But what was really the essence of Blogapalooza? While true that the event overflowed with fun and prizes, at the core of all these was the mission to raise funds to donate to the victims of Typhoon Yolanda. And guess what? We helped raise Php 82,000 for the victims of the typhoon!

Piggybank Movement

Isn’t this what blogging is really all about? To reach out and help others, to use what little influence we have to be of service to people in need. It was a great day, and nothing could have ruined it. Thank you, Blogapalooza! I know a lot of my blogger friends who were unable to come were green with envy. I’m sure next year will be bigger and better, and I can’t wait to be a part of it when it happens. -HANA
