Review: RUB Ribs and BBQ, Kapitolyo Pasig

Inside RUB Ribs & BBQ, Kapitolyo, Pasig City

It was an extremely busy day in the kitchen of RUB Ribs & BBQ in Kapitolyo, Pasig, as the staff was getting worked up to serve their guests best. It was Philip the Lifestyle Guy’s Media Launch, and members of the media are filling up the seats fast. I can’t help but share with you guys the appetizing dishes that were served during that day which you shouldn’t miss out when you visit any of the three RUB Ribs & BBQ branches.

The Food

Nachos (Php 170)

These nacho chips are great appetizers to set your taste buds right. The dish comes with a tray-full of chips, alongside two dip choices, salsa and cheese sauce. Priced at Php 170, around three to fur people can share this dish. The salsa was mildly spicy, but it was the cheese sauce that I liked between the twodips.

Onion Rings (Php 160)

RUB’s Onion rings are incredibly delicious! Even better than Burger King’s version, I might add. The white onion rings, fried to perfect sweetness, is served with Aoili dip.

Pizadilla (Php 190)

The Pizadilla, on the other hand, is a combination of pizza and quesadilla! It was a little salty for my taste, but I loved the cheese and soft tortilla wrapping the filling. It won’t be easy to eat it with your hands, since the filling would definitely fall off and spill, but you can try. :)

Baby Back Ribs with Buttered Vegetables and Rice as sides

Of course, we couldn’t miss out on the Baby Back Ribs. We had two whole slabs of ribs, served on top of each other, buttered slices of vegetables and spiced fried rice. The serving can extend to four to five people! The meat was very juicy and tender to bite, and was not dependent on the sauce to bring out its flavor. The buttered vegetables, too, were fresh, and was a good choice of sides. Despite not a rice lover, I enjoyed the spiced fried rice which came with our plate of ribs. It complemented the ribs well, and I believe that it is better to eat the ribs with the spiced fried rice than a cup of plain rice.

The Ambiance

The restaurant screamed fast casual, and provided a very cozy hangout place. It had wi-fi, so plus points for that. It was also aptly decorated for the Halloween.

My only concern was that its location on Google Maps was misleading. According to Google Maps, it should be near the center of Kapitolyo, two blocks away from Mercury Drug Store. It was later, when I was walking and feeling lost, that I found out the true location of the place. And it was far from where Google Maps was leading me! My advice to getting to the place: best to ride a tricycle and pay fifteen pesos to get to #88 East Kapitolyo. If you have time, you can walk to RUB. Let me warn you though, that it’s a long walk from the rotonda.

It’s a great place to have affordable ribs and barbecue, and since I’m just from Pasig, I might bring my family with me next time I decide to visit for some delicious ribs. -HANA
