Reis & Irvy’s Frozen Yogurt Now In The Philippines!

Last Saturday, September 28, 2013, I attended the Grand Opening of Reis and Irvy’s Frozen Yogurt at The Block, SM North EDSA. At first, I didn’t know where to find it in SM North because the instructions sent to me did not specify which building of SM North EDSA, so I had to go with my gut feel that it is in the block. But when I got to the third floor of The Block and found that there were so many people lining up in one of the kiosks, I knew I had to check it out.

Reis and Irvy’s was developed by the leader in Interactive Robotic Kiosks, Robofusion Inc. Since it’s the first robotic frozen yogurt machine in the world with franchises in the US, Brazil, Turkey and Singapore, I was really looking forward to it. Other than that, you get to control the robot by telling the robot which yogurt flavors you want and what toppings you’d like.

Turns out I was in the right place! I was in awe of the robotic hand that was encased in a glass box and was excited to have my turn. Unfortunately the lines were really long and at some point, the robot got tired, so we had to wait after lunch to try again.

Before I left for lunch, I made sure to have my photo taken with the Reis cosplayer and my friend, Lyron, who made the costume. Great job, Ly!

After lunch, I tried lining up for my turn at the robotic frozen yogurt machine again. I bought a coupon worth Php 125 for two layers of yogurt and choice of two toppings. The counter is manned by a human, by the way.

Here’s a video of my experience of being served a Frozen Yogurt by a robot. (PS:Don’t mind the commentary, that was just me and Kai :)

I have to be honest at this point: I’m not a big fan of Frozen Yogurt. But despite that, I finished my cup of Frozen Yogurt in less than five minutes. I got the Chocolate Yogurt for my first Yogurt flavor, and the Chocolate and Vanilla Combo for the second one. My toppings were chocolate pieces and chocolate sprinkles.

It was a new experience for me to buy yogurt from an interactive robotic kiosk and be served my cup of yogurt by a robot. For Php 125, it was worth trying. I also liked that you get to choose two yogurt flavors and two toppings.

For the curious, the kids and the kids at heart, I definitely recommend you try Reis & Irvy’s Frozen Yogurt. It’s a healthy treat and a fun experience, too. You can hang out there since they have about four tables which can comfortably seat a group of four. Since it’s only a kiosk, don’t expect power outlets or wi-fi.
