Liquor Ban to be Observed on October 27, 28

Liquor Ban observed for the October 28 Barangay Elections

The Comelec reminded the public on Friday, Ocotber 25, that there will be a liquor ban to be imposed starting October 27, in preparation for the October 28 Barangay Elections.

“Starting 12:01 of October 27 until midnight of October 28, an election liquor ban will be implemented nationwide except in the Province of Bohol and in Zamboanga City,” COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said.

Even on Twitter, netizens were given due reminder by Comelec Chief Sixto Brillantes, Jr:

Comelec Spokesman Jimenez explains that Bohol and Zamboanga were exempted from the ban because their barangay elections have been rescheduled on November 25, 2013.

The liquor ban covers “selling, offering, buying, serving, and taking of intoxicating liquor”

So guys and girls, this isn’t just a long weekend for an R&R. Don’t forget our duties as Filipino citizens and make sure to exercise your right to vote. And while you’re at it, observe the liquor ban for a day or two. It won’t kill you. -HANA
