A Taste of Ibarra’s: Grand Food Tasting – October 3, 2013

Last October 3, 2013, The Ibarra Properties, comprised of the four Ibarra venues: The Plaza Ibarra, Villa Ibarra, Bella Ibarra, and Ibarra’s Garden, held their annual Grand Food Tasting. The Grand Food Tasting happens only once a year per property, which is why it is looked forward to by many potential clients. The Ibarra’s staff, suppliers, and partners prepare tediously for this occasion to showcase to interested clienteles what they have to offer.

The Grand Food Tasting was held at Plaza Ibarra along Timog Avenue, Quezon City. It’s a short ride from the GMA-Kamuning Station, but you can also walk the distance. If you wish to drive to the venue, there are parking slots available for guests. You can’t miss the place because it looks like an elegant garden with a white fountain adorning the entrance.

The venue is not only great for weddings, but for baptisms, debuts, kiddie parties, and other events. It makes a great alternative venue to expensive hotel function halls. Prices start at Php 650/pax (exclusive of 12% VAT) for a minimum of 150 guests.

Guests were directed to the Margarita Function Hall where the Grand Food Tasting will take place.

It was the little details that made Plaza Ibarra appealing. The swing, the bridge over the pond with numerous koi fishes, and all the intricate details that made it look like a magical garden where all good things start.

The table set-up, floral arrangements, and other details of the venue was so well coordinated.

I couldn’t help but think of my own wedding (in the event that I do get married in the future) and how I would feel about having my own wedding here. I thought to myself that I’m not really the kind who wants an extravagant one-day celebration, and then spend the first day of the rest of my life bankrupt. While true that weddings are very special and happens once in a lifetime, I do believe that you shouldn’t squander all your fortune on it.

Because of the number of guests that attended, I was unable to try many dishes. Here were some notable dishes for me:

  • Appetizer: Roti: The Roti with Curry topping was delicious. I’m a bit partial because I love all things curry. But it made a great appetizer to ready the taste buds for more.
  • Home Cured Crispy Pork Belly: While it’s not as crispy as I would love it to be, this was one of my favorite dishes. The lechon sauce was super flavorful and sweet, and the pork wasn’t very oily.
  • Paella Valenciana: What I really liked about the Paella Valenciana is that it’s stuffed with so many bits and pieces of seafood. You will be full just by looking at it, and how generous the chefs were when they cooked the Paella.
  • Dalandan Juice: They also have Green Iced Tea, and Raspberry Iced Tea

Experiencing The Program Like It was THE Day

I find that a lot of clienteles was grateful for the Grand Food Tasting Event. Not only does it give them an idea of how the food tastes, but also allow them to experience a complete program. From the elegant set-up and arrangements to the music played by the band (The Red Thread band); from the hosts, to the services of the waiters. It was so complete that you get to see how your planned entrance would be like (if you were a debutante or a bride), walking from the top of the beautiful flight of stairs, down your way to the stage, with every guests’ eyes on you.

Ibarra’s also gave away lots of freebies and upgrades that night to all the on-site bookers, making it really sulit for those who attended the annual event. Some snagged an overnight stay at a posh hotel in Makati, others won a FREE upgrade to the services that is already included in their package.

We also enjoyed the mobile photobooth, with the cameraman lugging the photo printer on his back. It prints in seconds and comes out very nicely too! We also got to take home nice souvenirs such as a cute potted plant, which would look great on any desktop, and a cupcake! I ate the cupcake when I got home, and realized that it was not only pretty, but very delicious too. They were great choices of souvenirs which you or your guests would appreciate having.

If you’re having a special event, such as a wedding, a debut, or any other important celebration, and would like to do away with the hassle of looking for individual suppliers, Ibarra’s has partner suppliers they have worked with for years. Ibarra’s has made sure that their suppliers are legit and can deliver.

Every event and occasion worth celebrating is important. It is also very important that you’re not all haggard and tired from trying to organizing everything on your own. I can say that, upon scanning the packages that Ibarra’s offers, I’m definitely considering them for a few future events of my own. Who knows? I might just celebrate my own wedding here too :) -HANA

Hi Maan. I think you can work around that by telling them exactly your worry that they might not like the food. Let them know that you’ll make up your mind to book once he food tasting’s done. Else, you may give them a deposit, but ask if you can take back your deposit if you decide not to push through with your booking should you find yourself unsatisfied with the quality of the food. :) Good luck, and let me know what happens!
