Everything Yummy, Piazza Elesia, Talamban, Cebu City

Just when everyone who’s residing or who has been to Cebu is raving about Cebu lechon, three Manila-based bloggers, myself included, are going to rave about RIBS. And these delectable and definitely bang-for-your-buck ribs are to be found at Everything Yummy, Piazza Elesia, Talamban, Cebu City.

Everything Yummy – Number One on TripAdvisor

It seems that it’s not just the locals who have fallen in love with their ribs. Their ribs are famous with travelers and tourists as well, as evidenced by their number one ranking on Trip Advisor. So Jinky of Foods On The Spot, Ann of Annvassadress, and moi headed over to Piazza Elesia, Talamban to check out the restaurant, and find out for ourselves if it should be on everyone’s must-try restaurant when in Cebu.

Locating the place was a challenge for many taxi drivers because they are not familiar with Piazza Elesia. It’s understandable because there’s not a lot of foot traffic in the place, with most restaurants practicing broken operating hours. The taxi driver would be able to locate the place easier if you instruct them that Piazza Elesia is just past corner Cabancalan St., with a 7-11 in the corner. Just keep your eyes open for a sign which reads “Piazza Elesia”. It’s on the right side of the street if you’re coming from downtown, and on the left side of the street if you’re coming from Mandaue.

What used to be a 12-seater store back in October of 2011 expanded six months later to a bigger store, as they were able to obtain the space beside theirs. It was a good move as the lines were getting longer, and more people were growing eager to try out their dishes.

Amazingly, the business started by couple Melanie Tam and Hans Congmon was born from the desire to show love through giving deliciously crafted dishes to family and friends. They gifted to their friends what would be their first signature dish, the barbecued ribs. One month after, they got an order of barbecued ribs, which then started them on their way to opening shop.

Wall of Rave: Everything Yummy featured on different media platforms

The name of their restaurant, Everything Yummy, [food+love] is based on their “belief that food made with love is the secret to making everything yummy. ” They wish to provide a home away from home dining experience to food lovers, and to provide a place where family and friends can create memories and share the love for good food.

Tanglad Iced Tea

We were served a cold, tall glass of Tanglad Iced Tea. It’s the only drink they have that is not canned or bottled, so it’s the only drink on their menu that is really theirs. It was a refreshing choice of drink to go with all the tasty dishes that we were to taste later that day. Flavored by lemongrass or tanglad and sweetened by honey instead of sugar makes it a healthier choice of drink than soft drinks or bottled juices.

Presenting the best-selling dishes of Everything Yummy

Summer Salad (Php 200)

The Summer Salad, priced at Php 200, includes cucumbers, sundried tomatoes, walnuts, sunflower seeds, mandarin oranges dressed with Mango Truffle Vinegrette Dressing. This dish is good for about two to three people. It wasn’t my favorite among the dishes because of the a recurring bitter taste of the veggies, but liked the sweetness of the mandarin oranges.

Singaporean Pepper Prawns (Php 350)

I loved the Singaporean Pepper Prawns! It was worth the price at Php 350, with every juicy, chunky piece of prawn swimming in slightly spicy sauce of olive and garlic. What I really appreciate about Everything Yummy’s Singaporean Pepper Prawns was that it was easy to remove the meat from the shell, which is not the case when prawns are overcooked.

Salsa Rice

The Salsa Rice was fried rice mixed in with tomato sauce, fine pieces of tomatoes and rosemary. If you’re raring to try out a tasty variation of rice in place of the usual plain rice, then this is for you.

Spanish Chorizo (Php 195)

Their Spanish Chorizo, priced at Php 195, was another dish I looked forward to trying. I do think that I’d like the Spanish Chorizo Better in a meal, which includes a cup of rice and egg (Php 100).

Champion Chops with Rice (Php 275) and with Mashed Potatoes (Php 295)

These Champion Chops pork chops are just the juiciest! Served with either rice or mashed potatoes, plus a side serving of french beans and carrots . We couldn’t get enough of this!

Half Slab Baby Back Ribs (Php 445)

And then, the ribs were served. The Half Slab Baby Back Ribs (Php 445) in all its tender meat and juicy glory was to die for. They were grilled first, then baked until cooked through. We noticed that the meat was color pink, thanks to the seasonings. Wish Manila had yummy and affordable ribs such as this! Also, this would make a really good pasalubong, if you’re looking for an alternative to the usual Cebu lechon.
