Earlier today, I posted about my NBI Clearance Application Horror Story. I actually did not want to stop there, and wanted to tweet NBI for their incompetence and inefficiency. When I searched for NBI Clearance on Twitter, I was surprised to know that they have already established an E-Clearance Online Application. Why was I not informed earlier??
The NBI E-Clearance Online Application has been in effect since October 2012. Now, despite me being a heavy internet user, I have not read of this before. This is why I’d like to share with you the convenience of applying online instead of waiting in line for hours for your NBI Clearance.
There are four steps in applying for an NBI Clearance, namely: Payment, Encoding, Biometrics, and Schedule of Claiming. With the NBI E-clearance, you get to do Step 1 and 2 in the comforts of your own home, or even in a netshop, just about anywhere that doesn’t require you to wait in line.
First, you have to send payment via GCASH to their GCASH number. If you don’t have a GCASH account, you may go to any Globe Outlets and send payment there. If you’re going to do this, do not forget to keep the transaction record or the receipt of your payment, because you will need the reference number later. The amount you have to pay depends on your purpose in getting an NBI Clearance. For the list of purpose of applying for an NBI Clearance and the corresponding amount you have to pay, please refer to this document on their website.
Luckily, I have a GCASH account. After paying via GCASH, I received a transaction message, which would look like this:
Once payment has been made, and you now have a reference number of your transaction, you have to validate your payment by filling up this form on their website.
You have to provide a valid email address, and the GCASH Reference Number of your payment. Choose the appropriate purpose of application, type the words in the captcha, and click the VALIDATE Button.
Now I can’t anymore provide photos of the next steps, but it is very important to remember that in the next Step, Step 2: Encoding, it is very crucial that you don’t make any mistakes in filling out the information. Else, you will be liable for the mistakes and misspelled information, and it would cost you to apply for a new one. You would also need another valid e-mail address in order to register. Please make sure you have spelled the information you provided correctly. Check and double check before submitting data.
After encoding all the information required, you will be sent a QR Code, which you will have to print and present at the NBI Clearance Outlet where you will do Step 3 and 4. But before that, you have to send a booking or schedule your visit via text.
Sample: BOOK AAAABT9 NBIMAIN 11202011 0800 Juan dela Cruz
Send to: 09175638054
[HHMM is the time you desire to go to the eClearance center of your choice (e.g. “0800” for 8AM, “1400” for 2PM)]
You will receive a booking confirmation code. If not, you may email the SMS booking request to firstname.lastname@example.org: (Subject should be “No response from booking request”) and your request will be processed within 24 hours.
I am really thankful for this, and hope that more Filipinos would know more about the NBI E-Clearance System to save them time and effort in getting an NBI Clearance. Hope this little public service helps you guys! -Hana
