Review: The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil

I’ve been hearing and reading a lot about the miracle worker that is tea tree oil. The tea tree oil is an extract from the leaves of Melaleuca Alternafolia tree, and proves to be an effective antibacterial, antifungal, as well as antiviral. It’s all natural, and some folks prefer using this one instead of Benzoyl Peroxide, in response to acne.

I decided to grab a bottle of The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil last week, in a desperate attempt to stop my breakouts. I got my bottle at Robibnsons Place Ermita, while I was heading to their shop on the 2nd floor of the Pedro Gil Wing. They had a stall on the 2nd floor of the Midtown Wing, with all their items at 10% off. The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil is regularly priced at 495php, but I got it for less 10% off price of 440 php.

Packaging: The bottle, while priced at 495php, holds only about 10 ml of the product. Sometimes, when you try getting some of the product and pouring it into your fingers, it just doesn’t pour without a mess.

Smell: The smell is too strong, bordering on awful, but is tolerable. Tiis ganda ang tawag dyan. :)

I decided to apply the product with my fingers. Using your clean fingers, take a small amount of product and apply it on affected areas.

The Feel: It’s soothing on the skin! It feels as if it would cure your pimple problems instantly, because it feels good on your problem areas.

The Effect on my skin: I used this because I was having major breakouts after using a certain brand which probably doesn’t suit my skin. I had high hopes that this product would heal my pimple-ridden face.

UNFORTUNATELY..
IT DIDN’T! It didn’t help heal my pimples. After I started using it, my pimples multiplied, and my pores became even more apparent. /sob. I stopped using it after three days of use because I knew my skin was too sensitive to the product, it was irritating my skin.
Would I repurchase: No. Obviously because I’ve realized that this product does not work for me.
For now, I’m going to stick to what works, and get my face back.
How about you? Does this product work for you? Feel free to share your thoughts about this product! :)
